working place...

dang it! my router juz died on me.. touched the plug, WOOT! damn hot.. something is very wrong.. either the adapater is dead, or the router is dead (as good as not saying though).. GG.. think i gotta get a new router soon.. 1 with print server.

here's a picture of my working station.

Looks messy right? Just now someone made a comment saying why are there so many computers behind. DUH! I'm working in a software development company! *Slap forehead* Note the phone beside the laptop, that's why i said i'm working as a part-time receptionist. Phone rings gotta be me answering it liao..

This is a panorama photo that i did during my "free time". Showed to my colleagues, they all say the line veri obvious in the middle. See the line formed by the cloud in the middle of the picture? THAT'S NOT THE STITCH LINE!! just happend so that the cloud has a straight line.. yeah.. Suay lor.. But anyway, did a lot of read up on panorama stuff on internet during office hour too.. Started to find panorama veri cool.. Will try more of it next time.

Talking bad stuff about my bosses. Some time back, the day before my hongkong trip, we went for a wedding dinner of one of my colleagues. 4 of us attended + the 2 bosses. Before the wedding date, we (minus the bosses) discussed about how much to give for the angmoh. It was at Jade Fullerton, so all of us think should put at least $100. Then recently, that colleague came back from honeymoon. Over the lunch, we asked him how much bosses they all give. He said it's a shocking amount. Naturally, all of us thot it's some incredibly high amount like $500 or so. WRONG!!! He kept shaking his head. Then we told him to reveal answer. He said $100. !!!!!! "$100 each?" "No. $100 together".. Some more that's not the end of it. He continued, "Cash voucher. Taka one." ROX!!! all of us really gave that shocked look. BEAT IT!

Met up with comp club frens juz now during evening time. Hmmm.. think it's quite a feat to stay in close contact with sec sch frens.. not say juz a small grp or what. i dare say got at least 20 of them. hahaha.. okay.. might not be a lot for some (or all) of u... Passed them the souvenirs from hongkong.. I made them test the toys, wow.. so many defects! hahaha.. luckily i bought a lot spare ones. Phew!

During our la kopi session, suddenly someone suggested doing a blog for comp club group.. less than 1 minute, the bill is passed. great. Then, asking for pple to get the ball rolling, no one. And I tio arrowed some more. Oh well, someone juz gotta do it or else no one will do it. Then come the name of the blog (the address same), the discussion was fun. hahaha. Laughed a lot. Anyway, i've linked it on the right side. There! yes. There! Go visit it and read the about the deriviation of the name. Quite lame, but cool. Do visit it! (if there is actually pple reading my blog, that is).

A blog with no picture sucks. So i'm trying to add picture. hahaha.. or else that stupid daji will complain NPNT again. kns..

finale of the hongkong trip..

Day 4

3 days passed veri fast.. flight is at 7+pm.. so we still have 1st of the day to shop. Having popo mission accomplished (she bought the stuff she wanted, she went to the places she wanted, she ate the stuff she wanted), the girls think it's time for them to go for a shopping frenzy.. Went back to Mong Kok's Argyle Centre again. Reach there too early, guessed that the shops not open yet, so we walked around the area first.

Went to the MTR station to refund our octopus card. Something to take note here, if you stay at Majestic Hotel, going anywhere in Kowloon by taking cab wont cost u more than 40HKD. As a guide, from Majestic to Mong Kok, the meter never jump at all - 15 HKD. It's less than 2 km away. So for convenience sake, beside Day 1 daytime, we never took MTR anymore.. hahaha... Down at the MTR stations are many shops. some sell bread, cake and biscuit. you may purchase your laopo bing, etc from there too. But we bought ours at airport. easier..

Shopping begins at 12+pm.. divided into grps and taking turn.. round robin system.. haha.. bcos someone is needed to constantly accompany popo... she's stationed at a fast food restaurant at the basement, making it the headquarter of our operation, codename "shopping frenzy". I was in the advance party. Went up and walk walk a bit.. KNS, half the shops not opened yet.. think they onli fully open at 1pm. found a toy/key chain/plushie shop.. everything inside going for 10HKD! so i requested for a plastic bag and started throwing stuff in.. 10HKD = 2SGD.. a nice price for getting souvenir for frens.. nowadays getting souvenir for frens is boring.. wat u can find there can oso be found in sg too.. nothing special.. even laopo bing is oso sold in sg. all thanx to globalisation. anyway, getting souvenirs, it's the the thought that counts.. Awwwwwwwwwww... So i almost cleared out the shelf of monkeys and marios... anyone reading this and is a friend of mine and never receive it, ask mi.. if not more, TOO BAD!!!! First Come First Serve Basis...

Day 4 is all about shopping anyway.. Argyle got some style of clothing that u can hardly find in singapore and those clothes look cute! and those Gothic/punkrock/cosplay looking clothes, it's definitely selling cheaper there than in sg..

Finish shopping, go back hotel pack luggage, board bus, go airport, check in, shop for laopo bing and stuff, walk to gate, wait, board plane, fly, roller coaster ride (we flew into a thunderstorm cloud, stupid pilot), touch down, end.

-End of Trip

There's all about the hong kong trip. I would say it's quite an interesting trip for me bah.. had never heard so much cantonese in my life, had never ate so much noodle in my life, had never shop so much in my life - the 3 new records for my life..

Air tix + tax + accom + insurance cost 700 plus a bit. I've changed 400 SGD. Came back with ard 400HKD (80SGD).. i'm considered thrifty liao.. prior to the trip, my parents each gave me 200 each, which i dun really need.. last night, i passed them back the 200 each.. tell them to take it as i'm giving part of my pay to them.. filial hor.. i'm no longer that bai jia zi liao okay.. eileen always complain i dun work, slacking at home, not contributing to the society and stuff.. okay.. i kinda get it.. working and earn money and become independent has a great sense of satisfaction.. feels good... but.. haha.. it's still better to slack now, or else next time no more chance.. she's now oso slacking everyday, though with tuitions every now and then.. dunno when she's going to find a job to feed me.. hai.. i cant see my xiao bai future anymore...

blogging eats time!!

seriously, time passes veri fast when u r so into writing stuff. shouldnt have written last night... ate up my sleeping time. write during office hour more logical sia...

watched Fagastic 4 last night, with laiyi, kimseng, zhenwei, zeming, wenyao, zhengyi.. not say that show is exciting, but still watchable. 3 of us bought nachos to eat. GV is famous for long advertisement, so thot the nachos should be able to finish before show start.. You know.. nachos veri crunchy, so when you munch it, a lot of noise is produced. That's not veri good for the rest of the audience. Somehow, all 3 didnt manage to finish before the show start. Congratz~ so i had to slowly munch the nacho, cushioning the crunching sounds, and the cheese has depleted. Damn.. you know how bad nachos can be without cheese? miscalculation, everytime buy nachos the cheese ending sure left a lot. who knows yesterday the person so stingy... anyway, ya.. let's not leak any spoiler out. so conclusion, the show is watchable lah.. we stayed through the whole ending credits, no special ending.. BOO~

let's get on with hong kong stuff again.. oh ya.. sorry no photos.. yet.. i never brought camera, or rather, camera is spoilt. so all photos are with eileen's camera.

Day 3

going to macau for day 3. up to then, we didnt have any dim sum yet. How can say we had been to hongkong when we never had the dim sum in hongkong. there are 3 kind of restaurant i can visualize for dim sum.

  1. some veri veri small teahouse like those dessert shops. no one pushing cart one. juz a simple restaurant

  2. the tradition (as least that's wat i thot) type. got pple push cart around. Like the hong xing restaurant in chinatown, but lower class. those without good service, but nice food type of restaurant. like the one always showed in Ch49..

  3. the high class end. posh looking chinese restaurant. most probably no push cart one. u order, they go deliver to you. price a bit steep type.

we were actually looking for type 2. but we didnt know where to find. with the onli guide book we have, an outdated guidebook by mediacorp.. got 1 such restaurant in hong kong island @ Wellington Street. woot~ nice experience there.. really veri local feeling.. hahaha.. but eating those in place hor, speaking chinese is useless! so i'm like a mute there.. so eileen did all the asking and stuff..

btw, we didnt go hongkong island juz specially for the dim sum. it was because we were actually going to the harbour of hong kong island to take boat to macau. Mistake! stupid concierge person told us need to go hongkong island habour to take boat to macau. but i see the map, kowloon harbour oso got go macau one ah. but dun dare to take the bet. rather take the longer way to play safe.. To go Macau, you can take boat from Kowloon, not necessarily from Hong Kong Island. Each trip cost 120-140 HKD (around 24-28 SGD). so a to and fro trip cost ard 300 HKD.

Something interesting to take note here for Macau. Once you exit the harbour building of Macau, you will start to see a lot of pple standing outside holding a signboard. These are the ushers of respective casino hotels. There are free shuttle bus to their casino! So they are there to lure u to their casino by offering free shuttle bus + maybe some coupons (with stupid conditions that end up u might not use). So, "charmed" by chow yun fatt, so we went to Crown, a relatively new casino hotel. The minimum bet for the table games is pretty high, ranging from 200HKD lidat.. so table game is out for me, left only jackpot.

jackpot has not more handle for you to pull liao.. gone were the days when jackpot was still a mechanical machine.. you know the sound of the barrel turning, sound of the spring inside the handle mechanism, coins dropping out of the holes.. those rox.. but now no more le.. now u insert a bill note, credit issued, press button, see result. the the rules are much more complicated now.. last time 5 lines max only. now, WOOT~, 50 lines.. and 90% of the lines u dunno how they run. so u juz gotta keep pressing the button. win, happy. lose, put more money in lor. my theory for jackpot. just feed in the money, chiong for the max line. keep pressing.. should win eventually. dun be too greedy, think enough liao can stop. rest, move on to next machine. haha.. these are electronic machines. Programmed. Think in the programmer way might help. anyway.. won 140HKD there.. =D But big deal. the boat ride itself single trip alreadi cost me 130HKD liao..

Next stop was St. Paulo (Da San Ba). nice chinese name.. learned something about hongkong (macau similarly), u want good food, walk into the deeper streets from the main road. those are the nicer shop and cheaper. and yeah, we did that in Macau. found a not bad looking tea restaurant. DAMN CHEAP! eileen ordered a beef steak set. 2 huge pcs of beef steak, a plate of spaghetti, a cup of milk tea, a bowl of soup.. all for 8SGD!! or was it 9 or 10? anyway, it's juz cheap... and quite nice.. i ordered pork chop rice.. huge serving.. but the sauce is nice, so i finished up everything.. think popo and sanyi got a shock but never sound out only.. haha..

along the way up to Da San Ba got some pasar malam stalls and some goodies shops. Almond biscuit is a MUST buy from Macau. the peanut sweet is nice too. noticed that most of the goodies shops the same one.. after walking up and down, not early liao.. so it's time to go back to hong kong. this time we took boat back to Kowloon. that's when we all comfirmed that kowloon has boat to Macau. At kowloon harbour area got those branded shops. Kinda late when we reached our hotel. So we eat at 1 of the restaurant opposite the hotel. Another one, but also noodle and porridge, except with more variety.

after dinner, we go to a departmental store across the street, something like metro lidat.. Then we went to walk Temple Street again, with popo this time. Nothing special here, same thing, had dessert again too, but different shop. Then popo tired liao, so sanyi wanna bring her back to hotel rest. we went back with them to hotel, escorting. Once reached hotel, we split up. sanyi and popo rest in hotel, we 3 youngster rox the day! Went back to Temple Street. This time with onli dear and hui, i can finally shop at ease.

most of the time i'll walk at the back making sure everyone is in sight, making sure they are okay and stuff.. might be i think too much of myself or wat, but at least that's what i thot i should do. now with onli 2 kids, i can havoc liao.. was looking for a pocket watch, thot it's cool to have one.. look look look look, woot~ found FMA pocket watch. looks interesting so i bought it. then once again we reached the sex toys portion. *giggle giggle* spotted a shop selling food.. so we went to buy some makan and er.. makan. the food was finished while walking back to hotel.. spotted another shop selling more food! so bought some more stuff and makan again.. reached hotel.. feeling veri full.. and veri tired. started the day early in the morning 7am, and reach back hotel late at night 1am+.. sleep~~

stupid daji complained no picture no talk.. i'll put 1..

This is the pocket watch i bought...

hong kong trip sequel

let's carry on with the hong kong stuff...

Day 2
Start the day at 10am.. too shag, so everyone trying to sleep as much as possible. morning went to those noodle/porridge restaurant again. SURPRISE! *yawn* trying to locate a place called "'Sino Shopping Center" (Shun Wo) or something lidat... asked a passer-by auntie, she said 10min walk. oh well, so we walked, and they shopped along the way.. hongkong street is filled with shops... it's seems like everywhere is shops.. scary... Walk, Shop, Walk, Shop, etc.. After a long 1 hour plus, we finally reached the place. Even if minus the shopping time, i think the walk oso take 20-30min.. i wonder how fast that auntie walks.. 10min! must be joking...

Something about Sino building.. If you are looking for anime figurines/mask rider/ultraman/game character, this is the place... Level 2 sells pirated CD/DVDs. Cool... There's even a shop selling tailor-made suit for masked rider and ultraman! but mind you, it will cost u 2k per set... The shops there open @ around 1pm.. So dont go there too early. It's located near Mong Kok Station, and juz a few street away is Women Street liao..

After some walking around that area + lunch + some more walking, went back to hotel for a short break before moving on to next destination. During the break time, i took a 40 min walk walk around the hotel area. Just realised Temple Street is juz nearby, a couples of street away onli.. 5min walk.. MY 5min walk, not THAT AUNTIE.. found a wet market street near temple street too.. and found some goodies shop.. bought some lao po bing for them and myself to try. Shiok! damn nice! Time almost up, so gotta go back hotel.

Next destination is The Peak. Took cab to cross over to hongkong bcos we had given up on MTR (we realised popo cannot walk too much anymore after Day 1).. Note, crossing islands has surcharge if you are taking cab! We took tram to go up the mountain. The tram has a long queue, kinda turned off. But hey! there's an express lane. To use this express lane, u need to purchase madam tussard + tram ticket combo. Since we are going to the wax museum, so why not.. Tram nothing exciting.

Madam Tussard Wax Museum is cool... Just kept taking photos with the wax figures, do funny poses, let pple laugh, etc... Spent around 1hr+ in it. Meal time again. Took a veri long time to find place to eat, because everywhere is expensive!!! Fast food is one of the cheapest there, but popo dun take fast food.. oh well... dine in a expensive chinese restaurant, and the bloody 1L evian mineral water cost 68HKD (ard 14SGD)!!! and we drank that, believe it or not... After meal, time to take a night scenery of hong kong island at the peak of The Peak.. haha.. Quite nice. snap snap snap. try out eileen's new camera for night shot. not bad.. Nice Canon camera.

Time to go back hotel as the time isn't early anymore, at least for popo. she seemed tired, so gotta let her rest and get ready for the next tiring day. After popo had slept, we went to walk Temple Street. Wow! SAME AS WOMEN STREET! hahaha.. nothing special, maybe got some stuff there dun have.. but generally the same.. walk walk walk, then we kinda reached the end of temple street. saw there are some more stalls on the opposite street, so we continued on. wahahaha.. got some interesting stalls there.. sex toys!!!! vibrators, dildos, etc.. dunno battery included or not.. haha.. after walking some more, we saw another stretch of pasar malam. think it's temple street part II.. haha.. but that time was alreadi almost 12, stalls all closing liao.. so we turned around and walked back... stopped by a dessert shop to have some dessert and chit chat.. gossip abt their family stuff with sanyi. interesting. eat finish, go back hotel room discussed abt next day itinerary. Sleep.

blogging with suspense...

this is exciting! blogging during office hour. Well you see.. My company only has 2 stations with internet access for employees to use, and it is to be used for office work. but since the starting of my IA, i've been hogging on to this station, claiming that i'm using it for my development work. but hey! i'm really using it for development work. Anyway, since i've been hogging it for so long alreadi, so pple starting to take it that that station is mine. so voila! that station is mine! sitting at this station, my back is facing an opening. so whenever my boss(es) juz suddenly come in, anything i'm doing on the station can been seen easily. Thus, this is the exciting part. writing blog during office with boss anytime springing on me.. thrilling and exciting! BEAT IT!

cannot talk too much about my company and my work, or else my bosses will have to silence me. GG.

lemme write a long post. it doesnt look good with short posts all the way. I'll talk abt my hong kong trip then...

Title - My Hong Kong Trip (+Macau)
Note : The following may be used for reference, especially those text in blue. However, the author is not to be held responsible for any damages caused.

Prologue
The tour took place from 16 June 2007 to 19 June 2007. It's a free and easy tour, consisting of 5 pax. Me, eileen, her youngest sister (hui), her auntie (sanyi), and her grandma (popo). Although the trip is to enjoy, I felt that I have an obligation that I need to take care of them all! World peace...

Day 1
bloody early flight at 0645hr. Reach hk at ard 10-11am.. waiting for tour agency to send us to hotel. Nothing interesting happened yet. Really. Check-in, went to room put luggages. SET OFF!!! Hotel is Majestic Hotel, located at Kowloon, Jordon area. Nice place. It's kinda right in the middle of Kowloon, easy to get around in Kowloon.

Right opposite the hotel are some eating places. we chose the one that sells noodle and porridge. Fyi, all standard hongkong eating places sell noodle and porridge. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! soon you will be sick of them if you keep eating them even though they are nice. Anyway, that "tea restaurant" (cha cang ting) has good dumplings! one of the best i ever had. no regrets. The average food in hong kong usually priced around 20-30 HKD (4-6 SGD). slightly more expensive than in singapore, but most of the time they tasted much better than wat we had here, and bigger portion. After meal, we went Wong Tai Sin (Huang Da Xian) temple. Off we go to pray pray, walk walk a bit.

Basically MTR can get you almost anywhere. And their destination board inside the train is more informative than our MRT. The tickets are the same as SG, either 1 trip pass or octopus card. Their octopus card is good. It's like combining our cashcard with ezlink. The octopus card can be used for taking MTR, bus and buy stuff (you can use it in 7-11!). Anyway, no harm getting it, anyway the processing fee for refunding the card is only 7HKD. give them lah! For adult, octopus card is 150 HKD, cant remember how much is deposit and how much is the actual value, 1 is 100HKD, another is 50HKD. Getting around using MTR i think is around the same price as ours, i think.

taking MTR, we went to wong tai sin temple. then after pray pray, we go Mong Kok (Wang Jiao). Argyle Centre is a shopping paradise. it is equivalent to our bugis street. Stuff there are cheaper, but do note 2 things:

  1. Things there are mainly for GALS...
  2. Most of the shops have no changing room! You want to try, go toilet try. And it's only after u buy liao then can go toilet try.
Guys still can go there lah.. go ogling, help gf carry stuff, buy accessories/keychain/cute cute stuff. Those gals who like bugis street, they can stuck there for the whole day. Shopped all the way until evening, then makan dinner. After dinner, shopping again! This time it's at Women Street.

Women Street is a whole year round pasar malam. -End of Description- Eh.. that's all to it lor.. A super long pasar malam lor.. oh.. guys can get their tee shirt from there, but guy tee shirt all look the same one lah.. buy souvenir oso can get from there. If you think you still have energy, u can go to the nearby Fa Yuen Street (Flower Garden Street). Half of it is pasar malam i think, the other half is sell sport shoes and stuff.. There's a karaoke place at the end of Women Street. something like kbox, think it's called greenbox. haha..

Anyway, end of day 1. Legs sore like hell.. I couldn't feel my feet anymore. Almost doubting they are mine...

- To be continued...

Guess there's a limit how long a post should go... too long very hard to read and boring. And got a feeling boss is springing on me anytime soon. Ciao!

Peasant : Work complete...

recently find work sux... Think it's the problem with no incoming deadline(s). Lack of the adrenaline rush. Where's the fun?!? Meeting deadline is exciting, though i've been telling myself stop doing last minute work. LOL guess i'm addicted to it..
