singlehood.. Part II

quite some time ago, i've written something on this thingy.. this post..

i guess i'm slowly getting used to singlehood.. i dun complain lonely that often liao.. in fact, i think i'm starting to see some pros of being single.. but not say single good lah.. of cos, i still long for a girlfriend too..

it was like a few weeks back.. i was sending my dad to work.. dunno why outta sudden he asked mi abt my long long ago breakup.. to my family and relatives, i've always replied them with a juz simple smile and said "just lidat lor.." it's always hard to explain stuff like this.. so it's better to answer them that way and let them get the hint that i didn't wanna talk abt it...

then during the xmas party with my mother's side's family.. dunno who started asking mi that question again.. =\ but luckily the focus wasn't on that.. the focus went on to something juz general.. 天时地利 is very important, as we concluded.. even with the best couple, when at the wrong time, things sometimes juz won't work out... “两个对的人却在错的时候爱了一回”..

then my cousin and her cousin oso started to promote mi some girls to me.. hahaha.. that was funny.. they made mi sound like i'm desperate.. and surprisingly, i didn't feel the urge of to know new girls wor.. 我终于看得开了! woot~

however, with friends married with kids, ROMing, applying for HDB, etc.. that does really put a tiny weeny little stress on me.. it's a constant reminder to me, telling mi that i'm of that age alreadi.. hai... lemme use a loser phrase bah.. "Let fate decide. 顺其自然.".. i dun really like this phrase.. bcos it seems like i'm defeated by fate and i have to submit to it.. hai....

lemme talk abt something else here too.. my preference for my next relationship.. or rather a new criteria.. hahaha. i prefer a girl who has some experience in BGR.. for some reason, a fresh blood in BGR might be too naive in many aspects.. okay.. maybe it's juz my wild guess.. but that's wat i feel lah.. also, if with experience in bgr, most probably she has a clearer image of the guy she wants.. but then again.. if fate wants to put me with a fresh blood, bo pian lor.. LPPL.. love is blind..

actually i have another preference too.. hahaha! but not good to say here.. WAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!! i've onli told nzw and jh on that.. it was a lame stuff though.. preference only, not a must..

oh ya.. i didn't mention abt the pros of being single.. eh.. how to say leh.. i can say the best thing would be - this is MY world.. i've come to appreciate the feeling of having MY world, and not OUR world.. it's something good lah.. i dun have to consider things like "there's a someone who is very concern abt me. so i needa make sure i dun make that someone worry abt me." hmmm.. understand? nvm.. hahahaha..

STARS registration.. a screw up day.. stupid STARS wasted our time.. STARS is NTU subject registration system.. it sucks big time.. met up with swimming team for dinner.. ahhh.. very long never see them le.. as usual, our coach, jonathan, flew our plane.. we are so used to it alreadi, so it's okay.. had dinner at bugis' ajisen.. follow by dessert at liang seah street...

went to satsuma @ gallery hotel with xj, fk and zm.. expensive place.. but i like the ambience and stuff.. although expensive right, i still would consider going back there again, comparing with ma maison.. it was my first time trying foie gras too.. hahaa.. it's nice! after dinner went down to clark quay's coffee club.. chui.. lousy service.. had good dessert there though.. but with zm and fk pissed off with the service...

KTV with jap language classmates.. su san, cedric, stanley, daji and me.. KTV-ed @ cineleisure kbox.. we begged su san to give us some tips on singing.. she's from choir one.. on the receipt, it said 6pm end.. end up we stopped at 8pm.. wahahahahaa! after that, we had dinner at cine too.. a jap fast food restaurant at the basement there.. then we chatted all the way to 11pm i think..

went out with nzw.. we first went to temple go pray pray.. then i went to phoon huat to stock up on my chocolate. went down to orchard for some shopping and xmas prezzie shopping.. i got 2 xmas gift exchanging coming up, 1 of them was juz 2 days away.. after the shopping, had dinner @ taka.. finally tried the omelette rice there.. woot~ it's nice.. then we went to sit outside wisma there to do people seeing.. oh! and saw tam! small world.. after a while, due to some smoker nearby, we decided to shift to somewhere else.. so we went down to cineleisure's food court and resume our people seeing.. =) that's all for that day..

my mum kept complaining i'm taking up quite an amt of space in her kitchen, esp her fridge.. she asked why i have so many chocolates in the fridge..

let's see wat chocs are there... dark chocolate couverture, chocolate chip, cadbury milk chocolate, cadbury dark chocolate "old gold", fondue chocolate and cocoa powder..

wahaahahahahahha!! okay.. i do have quite a numbers of chocolate.. those chocolates are not for direct consumption purpose.. they are used for some other choc stuff that i might be making..

i better find some way to finish them up fast...

oh yeah baby~ i finally exercised today.. went sch to play badminton.. chui... my right arm not mine anymore.. and i guess tml i wont get it back too... after playing, we went over to keat hong zi cha there makan.. i love the beancurd and chicken wing there.. i was driving today.. felt rather refreshing driving on that familiar road..

anyway.. the chicken wing had a funny incident juz now.. we were like asking everyone wanna eat the chicken wing, and everyone said yes except one fag.. yeah, those who knows him will know which fag i'm talking abt.. his teeth are made of steel one.. die die oso dun wanna try the chicken wing.. claiming that he's still gonna go home and eat his proper dinner one.. but it was juz a chicken wing.. like it matters a lot lidat.. stupid fag.. some more, it was highly recommended by mi and jh..

when the chicken wings came.. woot~ the smell was damn nice.. then we kept tempting that fag to eat.. he didnt want.. say a man should never go back on his words.. crap.. that's why he's a fag.. but we can see that he a bit gian tio liao.. but the smell of the chicken wing was already damn nice! at the end of the chicken wing eating.. i told him to juz try the chilli sauce.. at least he would know the standard of the chicken wing over there.. yeah, he tried.. and see the regret word written over his face.. the return of the cookies

i think i know why my sore throat is so persistent this time round.. i had it since the ktv session with the uni gang, which was slightly more than a week ago le..

last monday baked cookies.. and.. how to know if my cookies are edible or not before letting the others to try.. i had to try it myself.. plus, it's the first time trying this recipe.. first few round gotta trial and error a bit to get the timing, size and other factors correct... each try i need to try the cookies wor.. then i gotta try the cookies when it's fresh from oven, left to cool a while and oso when it's cool... then after the whole baking thingy.. i gotta try how's it's like from the fridge.. hahahaha.. so i actually ate QUITE A LOT of the cookies.. where's my exercise regimen???

after the cookie baking, i had the chocolate fondue mini party on friday.. great.. choc fondue.. do i have to go on and say how sinful is it? WHY AM I NOT EXERCISING YET??? blame it on the weather.. t(*.*t)

then now... i'm baking the cookies again! then needa try during the initial baking.. trying new sizes of the cookies.. so need to know if the baking time is right or not.. and hengly it's okay.. my microwave oven is freaking small.. i onli onli bake 9 cookies at 1 good.. 12min baking time.. while baking i needa prepare the next batch.. i can bake ard 45-50 cookies with the amt of ingredient i'm using at the moment.. that will be around, say 6 batches.. 1 min for mi to let the oven cool off a bit, take out the cookies, put in the new batch, close oven, set time and temp, start.. 6 x 13min = 78min.. OMG~ 1+ hr for less than 50 cookies.. "LAO BU AH!! CAN I GET A BIGGER OVEN??" if i can bake 12 cookies each time, i will onli need 4 batches! 52min!! less than an hour.. omg.. that's a lot of diff!!

then i realised the cost of baking cookies.. it's way cheaper than buying cookies itself.. hahaha.. alright, don't consider the time spent it.. if i had the proper equipment i could bake them faster.. and how's the taste of it? hey! it's not bad okay!

oh yeah.. i left out the preparation of the dough.. but, oh well, it took way lesser than baking itself.. the dough was prepared the night before.. it gotta be cold hard so i can roll it into ball shape and coat it with the icing sugar...


the cookies in the box on the left side is cookies which have been left cool already.. those on the right side are overturned and left to cool... this time i coated it with more icing sugar.. looks nicer.. and not noticeably sweeter.. but then.. juz give it a knock the icing will fall liao.. hahaha! that's the idea u see.. the icing sugar is there to make it look like snow! and it's behaving like 1 too! great!


after baking, time to pack them.. and then i realised something else.. the freaking cookie bags i bought are big!!! i think to fill them up nicely, i need 20 odds cookie.. that means each time i can onli fill up 2 bags and give them as gift!!! screw it.. i'll juz say the cookies are precious stuff.. limited stock.. sub 50 are produced each time.. so, if u received them, BE GLAD THAT YOU DID RECEIVE IT! sian.. should have juz bought those clear plastic gift wrapper can liao.. thot a flat base will look nicer.. end up the bag looks so empty bcos too big..

there.. pack into the bags.. and i had to cut half of the bag away.. hahahahahaa! that was so lame.. these 3 bags are for the 3 sisters - the fellow retard, DS girl and the pig... think i needa bake more if i really intend to give to more pple.. oh.. got another bag, but i never take photo of it.. 4 bags down.. 16 more to go... more baking to come!!!!!


alright time to sleep.. tml is subject registration day... gotta wake up by 1pm.. and get ready for fastest finger first.. though i think i dun really have to go for it.. vacancy isn't really an issue this time round...

saw a measuring spoon and cup set.. so bought it as well.. or else i'm forever using my mum's measuring cup which is used for her rice one..

i began my day by snapping my niece first.. was trying to do a sketch of her.. bcos couldn't find any nice photo.. now i have one...



okay.. meet up with watson, fengcheng, eddie, daji and zw @ orchard.. went shopping at far east.. looking for my sneakers... then we went over to taka.. zw wanna look at more upz brands.. different league from me, u see..

after that we went to look at board games.. i'm still trying to convince myself to buy munckins.. 40+ bucks.. should i? should i not?

then dinner time came.. had dinner at Cuppage S11... oh.. fc went off while we were at the board game shops.. then came ryan shortly after that.. we suspect fc and ryan having couple quarrels.. =D)

after dinner, we walked over to PS.. after dinner walk.. it's healthy.. went to carrefour.. saw a lot kitchen stuff i wanna buy.. i shall get them the next time i wanna do some other food...

yeah~ it kinda taste like brownie.. hahaha.. i dunno why it's called cookie.. or maybe somewhere went wrong in the process of mixing.. i dun care! bcos it tastes good.. okay.. maybe to me only.. bcos it's my product.. will try to source for some other opinions..

the smaller taste like normal cookie, without wet moist center.. bcos too small, tio cooked evenly.. the bigger one will have a wet and moist center.. but most of the bigger one gone le.. hahaha.. into a few tummies of here and there.. the wet and moist center really taste like brownie.. i wonder if i heat up the cookie, will it become wet and moist again?

dinner @ ikoi

right after my exam that time, i had dinner with wenyao, zhengyi, zeming and shihui @ ikoi.. the price was 40 minus a bit after the plus plus.. but the food was superb.. it's a la carte buffet style.. and note.. THE SASHIMI IS FREE FLOW TOO!!! not to mention the sashimi was pretty fresh..

ikoi has 2 level.. 2nd level is the exclusive zone~ it has onli 2 tables there.. heard from zy that u gotta make VERY VERY VERY advance booking in order to get that place.. try 1 month in advance bah.. hahaha..

the variety of food ranges from sashimi, sushi, grilled food, fried food, noodle and rice... all can make it.. except sushi.. eh.. their rice wasn't that good.. =\ but the rest all can make it lah.. so that made up for it.. if u managed to get upstair the ambience would be good. downstair will be norm lor.. but the food is really good! give me a choice between kushinbo and ikoi, i'll choose ikoi.. kushinbo might have more variety.. but their food sucks.. but kushinbo have desserts~ hahaha.. but i'll still choose ikoi!

anyway... my review on Ma Maison.. it's western food cooked in the japanese style.. or japanese food cooked in western style.. okay.. whatever.. it's a fusion between japanese and western styles..

the menu was quite standard.. hamburger steaks, pasta and rice.. these are the 3 type of main course.. the omelette rice is good.. but u'll get sick of it pretty soon.. cannot juz eat it.. best is to just share it with friends as a side.. the ma maison special pasta, u can give it a miss.. it tastes like pasta with bbq sauce.. anyway, all their omelette rice right, maciam the same kind of sauce.. i had a curry rice.. the curry was good.. but the chicken wasn't.. hahha.. the food generally wasn't that impressive.. not say not nice.. i'll juz say can make it lah.. maybe i was expecting too much from this place..

it doesn't have a wide range of variety as a typical japanese restaurant.. but the price was decent enough.. however, i think i wont feel like going there specially, unless friend say wanna go.. ya..

i actually quite a few stuff to say.. photos to upload.. but i'm lazy.. hahaha.. i'll juz say a quick one..

i think most people have this problem.. but i think mine is on quite an extreme end..

when i couldn't really spare much time to sleep due to deadlines or whatever, i would sleep and quite a lot.. of cos not at the critical moment like 1-2 days before the deadline or wat lah.. but the days before the critical moment, i would juz sleep and sleep and sleep.. though i know i shouldn't be sleeping that much.. and i'm sleeping more than enough..

then when during sch hols, no deadline, or after deadlines, i would have plenty of time to sleep right? BUT! i dun wanna to sleep! =\ to an extent that i would kinda force myself awake.. push myself to the max.. and ya, i've been sleeping in front of my laptop ever since my exam was over... why? watch show or surf net until sleep.. even more.. my eyes are freaking tired.. sore lidat.. eye bags damn swollen.. and yet, i dun wanna sleep.. haahahaa.. i juz realised my eye bags are damn swollen when i looked at the photos that zm took on saturday.. cham..

well.. guess i'll go to bed soon.. bcos i can hardly open my eyes already.. i was preparing the mixture for the cookies juz now.. yeah.. i'm baking cookies.. now i've leaving the mixture in the fridge.. instruction say leave it at least 1hr, best overnight.. i'm choosing the latter.. but i can't find my that grease paper.. dunno why my mum placed it.. =/ =\ and the microwave is dirty.. i lazy to go and clean it up now.. =D tml tml..

i have a stupid car.. eh.. nope.. not mine.. my house has a stupid car.. eh.. not really the car stupid..

my car has a stupid car key.. so it's packaged together as a stupid car.. i locked my car using the remote control.. then i wanna put coupons.. so i press unlock.. CHUI!!! CANNOT UNLOCK!! dunno wat's wrong with the stupid control.. no batt or wat, I DUNNO!! I JUST CAN'T UNLOCK MY CAR! so how? i called up my dad and sis and ask how lor.. i didn't wanna activate the security siren of the car without knowing how to deactivate it.. after finding out the agarated location of the button, i was good to go..

before manually unlocking the car door.. i decided to give the car 1 last chance before i do the AA stuff.. WOOT~ heng it worked!!! wahahahahahaha!! dun have to malu myself! imagine a car siren goes off, a bunch of juvenille-looking guys hanging ard a car (we all look young okay!).. not right right? heng.. i saved my friends from maluing wor... but a bit pai seh that they had to wait for me.. =p

when i reached home after the dinner, in order to lock the car, i had to go back home, retrieve the working set of key, and lock it.. but lazy lah.. so i was playing with the control again.. keep pressing.. from all angles and varying distance.. then WOOT! HUAT AH!!! LOCKED! saved mi from the trouble of going home and down and back home..

to prevent such things from happening again, my sis told mi to mark one of the car... alright.. i shall use a sticker to label it as the faulty one...

my first paper...

oh yeah.. had my first paper today.. wasn't that hard.. A is impossible, B is hard.. well.. let fate decides bah.. i didnt really did my best for thsi sem, but i did my best for the past few days.. hahha.. bloody hell.. i juz can't put myself together for academic matters.. sucks..

lemme explain how i prepare for this paper from the day before... basically only @ the day before, i managed to extract majority of the gist of the whole module.. kinda late ah? when reading thru the notes again during the night, i finally start to see link between all the topics and the whole beauty of this module.. well, at least i did see the beauty of it okay.. but still there are some part i juz can't understand, and it's too late clarify that doubt.. so all i can do is try my best..

given the tips by the prof, and thinking how she would set the paper from what she had said before and stuff.. i was pretty much able to guess wat kind of questions will come out for the paper leh.. so i started to plan strategy for the day before the paper...

i know i was a bit tired, and i couldn't last more than 4 hours.. so how? i take a power nap first lor.. then stay awake for the whole night! actually i deployed this tactic during my A levels before le... and ya, it does work... i can easily shift my bio clock, but uni-directional - shift back my sleeping hours.. to sleep earlier is close to impossible for me..

and so, after my nap, i started attacking on the questions/topics i spotted.. ard 4am, hoot until song song liao.. to play safe, i tried to memorise other stuff which are outta my prediction.. juz to play safe lah ah.. while studying, i was watching ch49 oso.. nothing else better to do mah.. memorising is a veri shag thing to do.. so gotta coupled it with some other activity.. swallow ah.. swallow ah.. swallow ah.. try to gulp down all the info i was reading..

bloody hell, it's raining the whole morning, even before dawn break.. so cosy feeling.. if u put me on my bed, i sure concuss.. so i stayed away from my bed...

then came the time for mi to get prepared and go to sch.. brush teeth, bath, do my hair, pack my bag... then i open fridge trying to find something to drink.. ahh.. saw a can of redbull! that can was a leftover from the sept drinking session.. shawn left it behind one.. great! redbull can keep people awake right? so i opened the can, drank half of it.. *play final fantasy fanfare* power up!!! FIGHTO FIGHTO FIGHTO!

and ya.. my original plan for after the paper was to go back home and hit the bed immediately.. but guess wat? the redbull effect is still on! i think i'm so caffeine intolerant lor.. so duang @ sch.. play facebook and chat on msn using daji's laptop.. chui.. while using his laptop, it crashed twice, and hang thrice.. gg.. think that time chu smoke from the laptop is really a sign alreadi liao lor. something is really wrong with the hardware.. well, it's his laptop, and i'm juz borrowing.. so i shouldn't complain that much ah? hahaha...

duang ah duang.. duang ah duang.. evening time.. the redbull effect was finally over! BUT!! it's the beginning of my ACTIVE TIMING! nocturnal creature.. bleah~ chui.. not even feeling sleepy lor.. went alif for dinner, then back home.. a bit shag feeling liao.. opened the fridge, trying to find something to drink again.. saw that half opened can of redbull.. it's the one which gas one.. so cannot open for too long.. so i thought, aiya, just hoot finish it lah... GG! i can't believe i'm committing the same mistake twice in a day..

there! then i'm SO awake until now.. my eyes are SO SO tired, closing liao.. but my body and my mind juz can't sleep.. chui... and see.. i can even write such a long post here.. now the time is 2:30am.. so u see how long i spent writing this stupid post liao.. -_-" i should not drink redbull next time! unless they have a decaf one.. but wat's the purpose of a decaf one... -_-" x2...

Why Geeks and Nerds Are Worth It...

In the wide world of dating, there are many options. Do you go for the flashy guy with the smooth smile, or the dude in the corner typing away on his laptop? The following are reasons why I think my fellow females should pay more attention to the quiet geeks and nerds, and less attention to the flashy boys.

1.) While geeks and nerds may be awkward, they’re well-meaning 9 out of 10 times. That smooth dude with the sly grin and the spider hands? Wonder what HIS intentions are... plus, I’ve never had a geek guy not call me when he said he would. Score major points THERE.

2.) They’re useful. In this tech-savvy world, it’s great to have a b/f who can make your laptop, desktop, and just about anything else that plugs into a wall behave itself.

3.) They’re more romantic than they’re given credit for. Ok true, their idea of romance might be to make up a spiffy web-page with all the reasons why they love you, with links to pics of you and sonnets and such... but hey. It lasts longer than flowers, plus you can show your friends.

4.) Due to their neglected status, there are plenty to choose from. You like ‘em tall and slender? There are plenty of geeks/nerds who are. You like ‘em smaller with more meat on their bones? Got that too.

5.) They’ve got brains. Come on now, how can intelligence be a bad thing?

6.) Most are quite good at remembering dates. Like birthdates and such, especially if they know it’ll make you happy. Due again to their neglected status, they’re more attentive than guys who “have more options”. Plus, with all that down time without a steady girlfriend, they’ll likely have mental lists of all the things they’d love to do once they GOT a girlfriend.

7.) Sex. Yep. Sex. I’m not really familiar with this myself, but I’ve friends who’ve been intimate with geek guys and it’s raves all around. They say a virgin wrote the Kama Sutra... all that time thinking about sex, imagining sex, dreaming about sex, (they are male after all) coupled with a desire to make you happy? Use your imagination.

8.) They’re relatively low-maintenance. Most can be fueled on pizza, Twinkies and Mt Dew. No complicated dinners needed here, so if you’re not the best cook, eh. Can you order a pizza?

9.) Most frequent bars as often as slugs frequent salt mines. You won’t have to worry much about your geek guy getting his “groove” on with club hotties because, frankly, he’ll be too busy rooting around under his computer wondering where that spare cable went. You won’t have to worry about him flirting with other women because, 9 out of 10 times, he’ll zip right by them in a perfect b-line towards the nearest electronics store. I’ve seen this happen.
Me: “Eww. Victoria Secret’s Models... They’re so skinny. How is that feminine? You can see her ribs!”

10.) Although he may not want to go to every outing with you, you can arrange swaps, as in, you’ll go to his Gamer Con dressed as an elf princess if he’ll take you to the ballet. Plus, if he doesn’t want to go someplace with you, you won’t have to worry much about what he’s up to. You’ll probably come home to find him asleep on his keyboard in a sea of Mt. Dew cans with code blinking from the screen. It’s ok. He’s used to this. Just toss a blanket over him and turn out the light.

11.) His friends aren’t jerks. I can’t stress this enough. You’ll more likely get “Omg! A GIRL!! Can I see?!” than “Hey hot stuff back that ass up here and let me get some grub on...” They’re awkward geeks too and will, 9 times out of 10, treat you with the utmost respect and, more than likely, a note of awe. A cute girl picked one of their clan to date? It could happen to them! Hope! Drag some of your single girlfriends over, open up a pack of Mt. Dew, crack open the DnD set and get working. Nothing impresses geek guys more than a girl who can hack-n-slash (well ok maybe if she can code... a geek can dream).

12.) They’re rarely if ever possessive. They trust you, so you can be yourself around them. You like to walk around the house in a ratty t-shirt for comfort? He won’t care. He does too! They won’t get pissy if you don’t wear make-up or don’t want to bother primping your hair. If you gain a few pounds, they won’t try their best to make you feel like crap.

13.) They’re usually very well educated. Physics majors and the like. See #5. You won’t have to listen to him blathering on about his car (ok maybe a little), he’ll have loads of other interesting things to talk about. Politics, world events, how much the chicken burgers down at the local place rock, so long as you douse them in hot sauce...

14.) You’ll almost never have to hear, “Yaw dawg whazzap!!” plop out of their mouths. Unless it’s in jest. They spell properly, use correct punctuation, and are able to tell the difference between the toilet and the floor. They almost never get “wasted”, so you won’t have to worry about coming home to find him and his friends passed out on the floor amidst a pile of beer bottles. Mt. Dew cans, perhaps...

15.) And the final reason why geeks and nerds make great boyfriends: They actually give a damn about you. Not how you look (though that’s a plus), not how skinny you are, not how much make-up you primp yourself up with, but they like you for you. That kind of thing lasts longer than “DaMN baby you got a fine ass!!!” Believe me.

cake/pie/tart

seriously.. i dunno wat to call this thing.. a cake? a pie? or a tart? anyway.. the first attempt failed quite terribly.. sadded.. the choc mousse turned out too watery.. suspect is problem with the choc and the whipped cream that i used.. so for 2nd attempt i gotta improvise on that layer.. while improvising that layer, i used up the cream cheese for the peanut butter layer! GG.. so again, i gotta improvise on that layer too.. end up, that cake/pie/tart is my own original recipe liao.. haha..

a few things i notice.. that cake/pie/tart taste best when fresh from freezer.. and it won't taste that sweet as when it isn't cold.. that sweetness is still acceptable.. another thing i'll take note if i attempt this cake/pie/tart again, i'll wont buy that hershey choc chips.. it said semi-sweet.. but it's freaking sweet, can? last thing is the peanut butter layer.. the taste is overwhelming.. so i gotta thin that layer or do something to lighten the peanut butter taste.. maybe skippy's peanut butter is THAT strong.. haha...
