Shocking News

My mum just told me my uncle just left 1/2 yr more to live.

I'm in a total shock now. All along I thought he's doing well with his chemotherapy and medication. Now then I know those are just to prolong his life.

I'm hoping it's just my mum who got the info wrong, because weeks ago, my cousin told me he's doing fine.

Urgh...

1 Free Off Day Every Month.

It's a good habit to clear your bowels everyday. Most people like to do it first thing in the morning. For me, I prefer to do it during some other time. Office hours.

Imagine you go toilet + pantry (+ smoke if you do) 30 min every working day. In a 5 days week, you'll accumulate 2.5hours. Keeping it simple, assuming 4 weeks a month, that's 10hours. 10 HOURS! That's equivalent to 1 day off right? Right!

Of course you can extend more off days from this theory. Come late 15min everyday, you got 1/2 day off a month. Eat 15min more into lunch hours, another 1/2 day off. Hey! It makes you feel better if you think of it this way right?

Just a random thought of mine, okay. I'm not asking you to do it now or what. Do it at your own risk, don't blame me if anything goes wrong.

I Need Spotlight.

I must admit this. I'm an attention seeker. Probably that explains my loud talking, animated face and stuff.

And probably that's the reason why I don't like to attend big big scale gathering and alumni stuff. Why? I was never really a famous/well-known character. So in those kind of gathering, The limelight will be on other celebrities, then I'll have to move to a corner and sip my drink or play scissors paper stone with myself (no, I don't really do that).

Talking about school alumni, last time I used to actively go back to primary school when I was in secondary level. Then I came to realise the memory capacity of human brain. Teachers always have to remember new faces. To make space for that, old memory might have to stash up way way way behind in the back. Well, except for the few celebrities of that period. And me, was and is never in group. So I'm usually the one that teachers couldn't remember anymore.

Call me sour or what. But ya, I just don't like that kind of feeling. If you don't remember me, so there's no more point in meeting up right?

Some might argue that school is the place where everything happened. Ermm... SAJC shifted. Swiss had a major facelift that I don't recognise it anymore. PPS, lagi worse, gone. No more feelings left there man. No more.

Of course, for those big big big gathering, if I'm feeling up to it, I'll attend to engsiew and support a bit. You know, test fire to see if I can grab the spotlight or not, and try to improve on networking. But I'm lazy most of the time.

Anyway, that's all about how much I dislike alumni gathering and stuff. The main topic here is still the confession of mine - I'm an attention seeker. WOOHOOO~ AA!!!

Aiya.. I got inferiority complex. AA and narcissism are just to cover that up. Damn, do I have split personality?

Origami

Recently while looking through my cupboard, I happened to find a stack of mini origami papers. So I decided to bring to office and play with them a bit. My favourite is those durians and cubes. Basically you have to fold many basic units and put them together. Wait, lemme show u the pictures.

Fold both sides to the center
Fold 2 alternate triangles on the both side
Unfold until as shown below
Fold in the small and big triangles
Close the flap
Tuck in the big triangle
Tuck in the small triangle
Flip to the other side and fold up the pointed ends
Voila~

It's important to take note the direction of the alternate triangles that you did in step 2, because you have to be consistent with it with the rest of the basic cells.

The easily to make will be the cube. This is how you piece them up. 6 pieces required.

Then you have the triangle prism too. I figured this out myself! 3 pieces required.

The durian. 12 pieces required.

The big big durian! I figured this out myself too! 30 pieces required.

With the basic cells, you can slowly explore and see what other interesting shape you can come up with. Like rectangle one, oblong durian, etc etc.

Kevin Skinner - America's Got Talent 2009

This man is really good. Seriously. Like all the audience, I was kinda amused by his country's accent. But the moment he sang.. wooooot~ Goosebumps!

Look at the expressions of audience when he sang. Everyone was so captivated by that amazing performance. Man.. you really gotta watch and listen to it yourself

Click here for the clip. Youtube disabled the embedding. So ya.. go there and watch it.

I don't like to drive!

I've attempted to write a post on this yesterday. Halfway through, I deleted the draft. Too lengthy. Hahaha.. Now I decided to just cut things short.

Saturday I drove to Sim Lim. Jam at Rocher exit. Pui.

Drove from Burlington Square to Shaw Tower for dinner. Instead of turning left into Beach Road and do a u-turn into the carpark, I went behind Shaw Tower and made a big round. And stupidly went through the ERP. Only myself to blame. Pui pui!

Follow GPS from Shaw Tower to Dempsey Road. GPS guided me round and round in Orchard. Stupid thing is I know how to go there, just don't know why I followed the GPS blindly. Pui pui pui!

I was trying to experience how it would be to be driving, instead of being green. I think I don't really like it. LOL

Trees good and bad

Singapore plants a lot of trees along the road. It's a good thing, provides nice shades, make the place looks greener, etc etc...

But today I took bus and I got irritated by it. Not say trees' fault, it's I dumb dumb and lazy anyway. The usual bus I take to work is a double decker one, but sometimes it will be a single deck. No idea why, but it's just so. On the double decker bus, I'll sit at those sideway seats. And on the single deck bus, there won't be seats left for me.

But hey! Today there's lotsa seats! So I sat down at the front section, the part where the 2 seats facing each other. That's one of the best seat because of its spacious leg room. Then I realised how bad the choice was. Apparently, the sunlight was projecting in and affecting only my side of the bus. Sucks...

And you thought the trees would help or something right? NO! It made it worse! The trees don't block off the sunlight completely. In between the leaves there's holes, between tree to tree there's gaps. So imagine... You sleeping in a dark room. Then someone kept switching on and off the lights in fast interval. On off on off on off on off on off on off on off on off on off. How irritated will you be? Yeah...

But still, I was lazy to move liao, so I sat there and got irritated myself. Hahahaha... Nevertheless, being well-trained during my NS life, I mastered the skill to sleep anywhere anytime under any circumstances. I still fell asleep in the end. MUAHAHAHAHAAA! But the keypoint is I was irritated, VERY irritated at one point. =\

Anyway, I'm just doing random ranting. Ignore me please. Hahahahahaha! This isn't my first time experiencing this, but it's just that I actually remembered to complain this time round.

Troubling Others Might Not Be Bad

Sometimes, you are actually troubling others by not troubling them. =\ Understand?

Because you think you don't want to trouble people, so you decided to do and solve things on your own. But while doing so, you are actually troubling them in another way because they don't know your progress, and what if no result is produced in the end?

Try to share a bit. Burden isn't all yours. There are people around to take them for you.

Be it at work or family stuff or whatever, don't worry to bother people!!

Hmmmm... Maybe I should start to seek help from my team lead.

Relive the Japan Trip

We actually wanted to meet up on 1st July to celebrate our Japan Trip 1 year anniversary. LOL. But apparently not everyone can make it. So Daji suggested 1 week later, because that was the day Zm joined us. Hoho haha. That's so funny.

During that period, we were in Osaka. And while in Osaka, one of the most memorable experience was cooking our own okonomiyaki. Thus, the dinner shall be DIY okonomiyaki!

Finding a restaurant selling okonomiyaki isn't tough. But to find one that let you DIY in Singapore, that's quite a feat. Luckily Daji managed to found 1 and suggested that to us. Sumomo at Prinsep Street there. Sadly, Zw didn't manage to make it at the last minute, so it's 1 member down.

Just to do a quick review for that restaurant. The okonomiyaki portion is normal, in Singapore's price context. 10+bucks mid-range for a normal okonomiyaki. I would say the price is okay lah. Japanese food is never cheap in Singapore. Tsk. But the desserts...... I would say it's a bit too overpriced. Seriously. I tried the green tea cheese cake, it wasn't really that nice and it cost $15.90!!! Ya.... Just go for the normal food. Go try if you like DIY okonomiyaki. 30+bucks in total should get you full there.
