Something exciting..

Here's the thing I was pretty excited about. I'm going to Japan for 3 weeks! Alright... Most of you already know this thing, nothing new. Big deal. Hey! I'm really excited over this trip okay!

Met up 4 times with the groupie, last night being the 4th. Let's recall a bit.

We had an ice-breaking session at Alif. It was just a normal supper with the groupie members (sans Zee) plus JJJ. Oh oh oh! That was the night we sent Wy off to airport too! It was kinda for me to repay my gratitude. Wy often drove me home, so I ought to do him a favour too.

The next time we met up was at West Coast McDonald. This was the 1st official discussion meeting too. Based on a template itinerary that Cui has, we started planning our route for the trip. Zw was not in the discussion because he was not feeling well. Oh! I had the WaCh-MaCh-WaCh monthly gathering before this meeting too.

The 3rd meet up, also the official 2nd discussion meeting, was at National Library. Well, it was supposed to be at National Library, but we met quite a few problems and didn't manage to get a good spot there, so we moved to the McDonalds at Bra Basah there. Prior to this meeting, each of us has to research part of the itinerary to do as homework. Basically, this meeting was to plan what we going to do and allocate the days spent at specific areas. Ah! Zw was out in this meeting too. He had to meet up with his Taiwan trip's member for their discussion too.

Last night's meeting was quite an emergency, at least I felt so. Why? Because the accommodation might be an issue already! A few lodgings which we shortlisted previously are already fully booked! This is not good! Cheap, accessible and good lodgings are not easy to find. So we gotta find our accommodation ASAP and book them! That was the aim for yesterday. Actually, come to think of it. It was today that we met up. I started to pick them up at around 12am+. It's today! Alright. Back to topic. I was doing quite intensive research on the accommodation around all the areas we will be visiting. It was quite hard, and considering I was doing last minute work. LOL. So typical me. Well, at least we kinda managed to settle for the accommodation and the baton was passed over to Cui for her to do the contacting of the lodging.
Hahahaha! Zw was out again, he's in Taiwan.

Something to clarify first. Zw did not pang seh us for the discussion or what. It's really because of the timing that we set. So it's not his fault or anything.

So, ya! I'm still going to Japan after all!!! And it's extended from 1 week to 3 weeks! Great!! Damn, I have no money...

I'll write another post on the Japan trip details another time. Basically, this is the route. Fukuoka (Kyushu) -> Miyajima (Hiroshima) -> Okayama -> Osaka -> Kanazawa -> Takayama -> Mount Fuji -> Tokyo
Woot~ From the west to the east! But we are not going north to Hokkaido. No time. No money. So Tokyo is the last stop. Banzai!!!!!

ANIME!!! recently no drama to watch... so i watch anime.. finally got used to streaming quality.. and the worst kind.. crunchyroll.. yeah.. crunchyroll definitely has one of the worst quality for viral video...

saw ys introducing this anime on her blog, so i went to give it a try.. man! it's funny! and exciting too.. starting might be a bit draggy, as they are introducing new characters into the story.. but from 20+ onwards, it's very very very exciting! got battle.. maciam watching naruto and bleach fighting scene lidat.. 2-3 eps for each battle... then u will start to watch non-stop

I was doing screenshot everytime he did the "reborn" action. why? bcos i wanna see how many different type of boxers he has in total.. hahahaha.. but i started taking screenshot since ep33 lidat.. so i need to backtrack 30+ to get the rest of the screenshots.. if i managed to get all i'll do a collage of it. hahaha..

The Story of Backside Itchy

Maybe I should talk about the backside itchy issue.

It was 2 nights ago. I was trying to find my stapler, looking through my drawers and cupboards, high and low. Then I came to this particular cupboard, which I named it as the "Taboo Dimension". Despite knowing that my stapler definitely won't be inside, I still opened it and looked through it. That's the story. Backside itchy.

Photo albums, little trinkets and gifts, etc... It's funny how clear each memory is. I can remember all the stories behind them. Yet in the past, I couldn't even remember which gift was for which occasion. Every item is like bringing me through a memory journey.

I tidied up the cupboard and added more items into it. Well, my room is always in a messy state, so there are stuff, that are supposed to be in there, are not there. Then I suddenly thought about something else. "I've tidied up those stuff, but are my feeling too?"

Hmmm.. I have already let go of her. So what's holding me back now? I've been telling people to introduce female friends to me and stuff, but I wasn't even serious for once. The only time that I was serious enough was last year a few months after the broke up. Guess I was trying to find someone to fill up the void in my heart. Glad that I didn't do anything stupid, but I almost did =p.

But there's something something that's bothering me. Why did it end? How did it end? I recalled the reasons and stuff she had told me, and tried to understand that. But I wasn't able to understand the situation. Actually there are many times I feel like asking her, trying to clarify this "mystery" of the past. But I didn't manage to do so. That would be weird to ask her, wouldn't it? That's something of the past, it's quite a taboo topic, and she has already moved on. I shouldn't be dragging her back into the issue of the past, at least that's what I thought.

So, how do I ignore this problematic issue that have bothering me for so long, but yet retaining the sweet memory? *sigh* =\ Guess I can only hope that I will slowly become numbed to the bothering issue, and keep telling myself to move away from that past.

Oh! I need to state this clear again. I have already let go of her!!! Ya, it's just that issue is still haunting me. That's all!

And ya, regarding the 2nd occurrence of the backside itchy, I was reading DS's (codename used) blog. Saw photos of the MayDay Concert thingy that she had uploaded, I've more or less guessed there might be some photos of that Pig (codename used) and her bf. But I still read on. Think I really wanted to see what my reaction will be. Lame right? Yeah. That's what I did. Indeed, got!! Man, I did feel pretty sour. Hahahahaha!

Yup! That's the whole thing behind the backside itchy post. I didn't want to elaborate it previously because I still have a paper the next day, which was this morning. Not good to get myself emo up before the paper. I mean I was already emo, but cannot afford to flare it up.

the mattress theory for university studies...

i've come up with the mattress theory recently while talking to friends.. i think this theory can expand into a more complete one and, perhaps, some day, i might be able to publish it...


The Mattress Definition
As everyone knows, mattress is something that you can rest on, is something you place on top of the floor (or bed base). It is the cushion level that allows you to sleep through the night comfortably. So, in the context of university study, this mattress refers to someone you "lie" on top of so you can get pass the exams or to get A's.

Law of Maximum Usage of Mattress
In real life, mattress is something pretty expensive, especially if it is a good one. Of course, there are ways to maxmize the lifespan of a mattress. Same to our "mattress" in university, the lifespan of it can be maximized too. To do so, follow the steps below.

1. Find a good mattress. A good mattress should be someone, preferably, below average grades. However, you may try to obtain average students too. But the way of maintaining would be more tacky. Note that, you may get multiple mattresses too. The more the better.
2. Help out the mattresses with their normal schoolwork. However, just do the minimal effort.
   
3. For projects, just help out with some details will do. Best is if you can get into same group as them. Do most of the stuff, so you know the stuff and they don't. So during presentation, you are likely to score higher than them.
4. For presentation, arrange the format such that you get the most important part, and also a big bulk, so that you will stand out more than the others.
5. Here is the most important step. Study with them. Your main aim here is to make sure they pass their exams! This may sound weird. Why must let them pass if you want them to become mattresses? Think properly. Mattress doesn't refer to failures only. Those people who C and D are also mattresses for you to get a good B grade. =)
6. However, do not feed in too much information. When you feel you have "stuffed them with enough cotton", you may use this suggested answer to reply their questions, "I don't know! I don't know! I don't know!"

Something special to take note here. During the last semester, you may choose to forsake them totally. This is because there is no need for them anymore. You are graduating soon. Taking care of them will mean extra effort. This law of maximum usage utilizes minimum effort maximum gain.

If you are thinking why not just dump those mattresses and get a new one again the next semester, you gotta be kidding. What you are doing is actually a sifting process. You are filtering out the rotten apples leaving the good ones. That is kind of dangerous as you approach the last year, you might be left out only people of your same caliber. That makes you on your own already. This should be avoided at all cost. Therefore, bring your mattress along to the next semester. This is what you should do. Reuse them.



alright.. maybe next time i can do a mathematical proof to compare the effort and gain between reusing the mattress and acquiring new mattress. okay.. i'm joking here.. this whole thing is juz a joke!! erm... it may seem that the above is actually mocking someone in particular.. eh.. pai seh lah.. no lah.. just a joke nia lah.. dun angry okay?

2 dorama otaku started to take up the roles of 2 characters in Proposal Daisakuen... for reason, which i dun understand oso.. here's the story.. got 2 otakus, S and Z.. Z suddenly, dunno why, said S sound like Mikio in the show.. and started calling him Mikio.. =.=" nvm.. bcos S quite like Mikio, that character and that actor himself..

That's Mikio (Hiraoka Yuta in real person)... then Z suddenly dun feel good calling S Mikio.. bcos Mikio is nice looking.. and S isn't... but who cares.. S likes it... hahahaha.. then S decided to give Z a character role too.. for some reason, which cannot be revealed... S gave Z the Tsurumi 's role.. Z was pretty alright with that character.. but then.. he realised.. Tsurumi.. is... erm... a shorty in the show!

That's Tsurumi (Gaku Hamada in real person).. hahhahahaaha... think Z didnt think too much when assigning the roles.. but S was definitely a scheming guy, and Z fell for it totally.. but Z didn't complain much either.. oh well... so it started like that and continued on... Z went on calling S Mikio everytime... then now S realised.. that's so otaku..... too late........... and now everyone knows that they are otakus too.. TOOO LATEEEEEEE!!

you ought to see it for urself.. it's a nice view.. and my kitchen is bathed in golden rays... hai... this view won't last for long.. 3-4 yrs time, i will be moving further in liao.. dunno which direction i will be facing and high will i be... why did i only learn to appreciate this view only now?

i wanna go japan..

look like my grad trip most probably won't be going to japan anymore le... due to some reasons... hai... all those planning i've done.. looking through webbies and maps.. i was alreadi visualizing mi walking in that area liao.. should i go alone instead? or maybe daji also really gian?

to wat degree have i planned the trip.. basically i've got the rough itinerary out le.. budgeting and stuff also roughly done le... since i'm not going le, i might as well share some stuff i've planned and that i've found out.. i'm not listing the details like how to move from place to place and stuff.. those u can find them online.. for now, i'm lazy to list them.. maybe i'll write them another time.. so i have a consolidated database that i can refer next time..

the first headache while planning is accommodation! staying in tokyo is expensive!!! then cheap place right u have to either walk a long distance from the nearest station, or take a number of transits between different lines.. imagine taking a luggage walking 10+ minutes to reach ur hotel, or doing transit from one line to another.. chui...

anyway, i've manged to found 1 hotel pretty near to Ueno station. Note that Ueno station is easily access if u touch down in Narita airport. the train from Narita stops at Ueno too.. The hotel link is here.. it says 3 min on foot from Ueno station.. COOL!

the station is the one with lots of camera icons ard it.. the hotel is hidden below.. the label tio blocked. it says "Google Earth - Hotel Suntargas".

perhaps the hotel is not veri beautiful or well-equipped.. it's ard 5000yen per head for a twin room.. that's ard 70 SGD.. not say very cheap, but ya.. cheap enough.. of cos, if i'm going for an even more budget one, i'll stay in those cheap cheap hostel! there are cheap ryokan in ikebukuro areas too. oh! and asakusa area too! check those areas for cheap accommodation.. 3000yen per head a night isn't a problem.. that's 40+ SGD a night!

next headache, argh~ moving around.. even though u might be happy bcos u got the jr-pass-and-i-can-freaking-take-unlimited-rides... er... JR pass is only for JR transports.. tokyo itself got other train service providers... =/ yeah.. so... how to know which train to take? so many different lines.. well.. that i dunno yet.. until i've experienced it myself.. but at least u can find out wat combination of train u can take to reach a particular place.. 1 major line you ought to know is the circle line, JR Yamanote Line (山手線).. this line circle around the central tokyo.. from there u can branch off into other lines to reach ur desire destination.. a famous tip i read from mulitple sites is that juz buy the cheapest ticket.. u can pay the balance at ur alighting station if the fare exceeds.. hahaha..

listing down some must-visit-places in tokyo, we have:

1. Tsujiki Fish Market, or at least the area ard it. The restaurants ard the market sells FRESH sashimi!!! com'on, they are just beside the market... comfirm fresh!
2. Asakusa. got a temple there... and a shopping street! it stretches from the Kaminarimon (雷門) to the temple.. lots of food there too..
3. Shibuya. shopping district for the young.. look at our hereen, far east, bugis, etc.. those are juz mimics to the authentic shibuya!
4. Akihabara. electronics district.. imagine sim lim square in japan.. not only that.. paradise for the otakus.. anime stuff, it's all there. and, *grin*, maid cafe. ho ho ho ho ho...
5. Ikebukuro. it has the Namjatown that i've mentioned in the "for sweet toothy..." post.. that district quite a lot of stuff as it is one of the major stop of the circle line.
6. Ginza. although i know i wont be buying anything from there, we should visit and see how is it like right? and there got the Mitsukoshi departmental store.. daji's fav..
   
7. Odaiba. it's an artificial island at the south tokyo.. Fuji TV building is there.. Palette town is there too.. think i remember there's a ferris wheel too..
8. Roppongi. another rich man place i think.. but nightlife there should be quite active too..
9. Tokyo Tower. how can dun go? it's like u go paris dun visit effiel tower lidat.. ahahaha.. there's other stuff there too btw.. wax museums and stuff..
10. Shinjuku. why did i leave this to the last.. of cos not bcos it's a red-light district.. oh yes, it's a red-light district btw.. oso a shopping place too lah.. but apparently everyone knows it by the former one.. anyway.. i left this to the last bcos i wanna talk abt something else too..

SHABU SHABU! i had my first shabu shabu in japan, in shinjuku itself... awwwww.. i can't forget the experience man... shabu shabu in singapore is kan expensive.. but there? that time i had a freaking buffet!! FREE FLOW DRNKS, FREE FLOW RICE, FREE FLOW MEAT, FREE FLOW VEGE!!!! BEAT IT!!! then i even took effort to find that particular restaurant that i had the shabu shabu.. i think i've located it.. but not too sure if it's the right one..

anyway, dun care if it's the one or not.. but it's located quite close to the shinjuku station too.. the station is somewhere along that bottom of the thick stretch of railways.. the restaurant name is mo mo paradise. they have several branches in tokyo too. watch out for the logo below..


oh.. have i told u best part of it? it's 1500yen for 90min time limit.. that's around 20SGD!! CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay okay.. i think i'll stop here.. i'll talk abt the next part of the plan next time.. i do really need to sleep liao.. ciao~

alright.. yesterday should be the last day that i can really enjoy before the exam starts.. we should be starting to study for it liao though.. i'm still warming up.. =)

let's see.. yesterday went sch for normal lesson. my normal lesson, that is.. attended jap tut.. there wasn't any other lesson, i think.. it was e-learning week? isn't it? or was that last week? does it even matter? forget it lah ah..

after lesson, i went to SCR to find the usual gang of uni friends.. they were studying wor.. at least they were studying before my arrival.. then i spotted zw playing viwawa big2.5.. and cs was entering too.. Ha! it was an opportunity i couldn't miss.. jq was not back at his laptop yet, so i decided to hijack it! WAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAA! then we even jio-ed jh to join in.. well done! 4 players and we can have a private table! as usual, the pwd i set was pretty self-centered and self-praising. yesterday the pwd i put was "sicongisgod". MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

oh yeah.. so we played rounds after rounds.. even after the owner of the laptop came back, but he was kind enough to let mi continue using it.. i think he's too pai seh to chase me away lah.. hahaha.. he's a nice guy.. nice guy dun chase pple away one.. if it's daji, it will be different story.. he doesn't even lend mi the laptop in the first place... =\

then next up, i had the monthly scc gathering 730pm @ suntec.. but... okay.. jh and mi were late.. bcos we were playing big2.5 mah.. never mind that.. lazy to type the details of that gathering here too.. just referred to this post lah ah.. it's written by me too.. oh yeah, april gathering is also for jh's birthday...

then after that, i had to rush over to timbre substation to meet up with another gang of friends. by right jj and rene should follow me over.. but it was pretty late alreadi.. so it's just me walking over.. while walking over, fk smsed mi that zm was on the stage dancing! OMG!!! I'M GOING TO MISS THAT! luckily they took a video of it.. so i managed to watch it on the camera.. hahahaha! so stupid!

basically every ep shows him going back into a point of time in the past and he trying to amend it.. i should not say any spoiler here.. so, ya.. WATCH IT! it's really nice!!!

Galileo is no stranger in the world of science. Remember the guy who dropped ball from Leaning Tower of Pisa and concluded that everything falls at the same speed? He's the one. wait... why am i typing in proper typing.. and why am i introducing him.. the show has nothing to do with him... =.="

this is a crime mystery drama... in all the cases, it seemed like some supernatural phenomenon.. but apparently, it's all abt science... those phenomenons are juz tricks of science.. =)) i love science.. that's why i like this drama.. i think this show might piss off people who detest science, esp the physics field.. hahaha..

lemme shock u more.. i'll list out the big names that appear for the individual story.. ep3 got hirosue ryoko (u know who she is)... ep4 got katori shingo(that guy from SMAP) and..... AOI SORA(ALL GUYS SHOULD KNOW HER)!!! but... eh.. she's the dead victim.. onli appeared for like a few min.. =\ ep6 got horikita maki (the nobuta from nobuta o produce), ep 7 got fukada kyoko (u know who she is too).. wahahahha.. those are all big stars wor...

so... if you like detective crime story (and physics), u will like this show! WOOT~


Hanazakari no Kimitachi e

here's another drama based on a manga... those taiwan idol drama fans will know this story too.. u know 花样少年少女? yup, that story.. so u know the plot.. girl act boy go all-boy school.. i think the main plot is the same, but the details are different.. i'm not too sure bcos it didn't watch the taiwan version.. another romance comedy.. well.. japan drama that are popular over in singapore mainly belong to that genre.. =)

fyp final draft submitted.. finally.. but i didn't really put in effort for it.. to say the truth.. i dun really care abt fyp liao.. i'm even prepared to stay back 1 more sem to do fyp.. like i've said to some, my ass never tio burn before, so i dunno wat is it to get it burn... all along i've been hovering my ass over the fire nia.. never kena bitten so i will never be shy? =.=" but that's not the end of fyp.. my prof expected mi to go on with it.. wat to do.. i'm not progressing much.. of cos need to work more on it lor..


so wat's next? tml, or rather it's today alreadi, later in the afternoon got a presentation.. it's prof comm one.. sian.. i'm always bad with presentation.. and some more we just started working on it earlier on in the day.. hahhaha.. my whole sch life is abt last minute work..

next is Distributed System lab assignment.. chui.. next tue deadline.. so far i did nothing for it yet.. kc did some alreadi.. hopefully i can get it done during the weekend... from wat i've seen.. shouldn't be a problem bah...

Simulation and Modelling has 2 assignments too.. and i think the deadline is next next week? or next next next week? not too sure.. and no idea wat's the assignment is abt too..

and guess wat... exam is less than 1 month away.. 16th apr.. or 17th? or both? needa check my exam timetable again.. sian.. but luckily at least all the deadlines are not cramped up together.. when i saw the email on exam welfare package in the ntu email, that was really demoralising.. ah... going to see T58 again.. and hopefully for the last sem too.. =\

To Change the Color of Flame:

For Candles: add the chemicals to the wax, or soak the wicks in a solution of the chemicals using the "recipes" below

To Add to a Fire: Put three level spoons of the chemical into a paper cup; fill 1/2 full with water and stir. Soak several small chips of wood in this solution overnight. The next day, remove the chips with tweezers and lay on newspaper to dry. They can now be added to the lames to produce bright colors.

Green flame: Borax or Boric acid, copper nitrates or barium nitrates, alum (thallium)

Orange flame: calcium chloride

Red flame: stronium nitrate, some sources site Boric acid as well

Reddish/Orange-calcium choloride

Yellow flame: Table salt, Sodium Chlorate or Potassium Nitrate

Yellow/Green-borax (sodium tetraborate)

Purple flame: Lithium Chlorate, (potassium nitrate)

White: psom Salts (magnesium sulfate)

Another special effect can be achieved by sprinkling powdered iron into a flame. If this is done slowly enough, a number of yellow, sparkling "stars' can be seen clearly.

happening friday..

i think it has been a very long time since i have such an happening day liao.. i'll go thru my activities for the day..

woke up at 3pm... managed to arrange a lombang, thx to mr nzw, down to gombak sports hall for badminton @ 4pm.. shag game...but ya.. refreshing after playing.. but my right arm and my butts are hurting now.. serve me right for not doing warm ups..

then dinner @ alif.. *boring* but got an interesting sighting.. saw daji's father!!! rare sight... before boarding that yellow evo, mi, zw and daji were watching an akido lesson.. hahaha.. quite lame though.. but we were pretty engrossed in watching.. i actually had thot of learning akido last time one.. but ya.. i was a lazy ass, and still is one...

next activity on the list was going to timbre.. my virgin visit there.. wahahahahahahahahaa!! shawn was right man.. the girls there are upz!!! mi and nzw were constantly looking ard when we reached there.. there was a short queue when we reached there.. when they managed to find a seat for us, woot! we got one of the best seats for watching the live band.. it's right in the middle of timbre, in front of the stage..

i had some beer and ale.. (actually... ginger beer and ginger ale.. hahaha.. it's a mocktail.. mixture of ginger beer and ale..) kc came later though.. the band.. eh.. i think so so bah.. singing is good.. but the band behind.. i prefer the one i heard at wala wala - the unexpected... after the first set of songs, the girls which seated ard us were slowly leaving group by group.. then those tables were slowly replaced with either guys-only group or couple.. then feeling sian liao.. so we decided to leave too.. it was 11+pm alreadi.. guess where we went next..

we went to st james!!! WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! kc is vip member mah.. so can go in free.. we went in powerhouse.. sian.. music not nice.. and not many pple too... it's not sardine packed.. 1 glance over, nothing much worth looking.. timbre got more.. then we started to explore st james.. running from room to room.. stupid movia and dragonfly full house.. these 2 were the rooms we wanted to visit one lor..

outta all the rest of the rooms.. eh.. nothing interesting leh, except this room called boiler room.. inside got live band playing too.. dragonfly and movia oso got.. but full house.. bo pian.. anyway, ya... actually we first ended up there is bcos we were stalking this yellow-dress-girl.. shhhhhhh!

i think she's wearing a g-string.. that was actually wat caught my attention.. the VPL.. not too sure g-string or thong though.. i saw some vague lines curving in.. but oso not very clear.. it's either thong or g-string lah.. but ya.. i'm an ass-lover.. so i will always look at ass.. i can miss out on the chest, but i won't miss out on the ass, if possible..

but we lost trace of her somewhere in between.. but not bad lah.. i mean the boiler room, not her.. but she's not bad too, BUT.. read on and u will know why got a "BUT" follow behind.. anyway.. back to the place.. the drummer was good.. the guitarist is good too.. basically the whole band is good.. singers so so nia.. but 1 thing abt that room.. as i proceed more and more to the right side of the room, i realised the age group is getting older and older.. on the extreme right got ah pek there lor! white hair ah pek.. pro right?

we resumed exploring st james.. went back to powerhouse to check if it's better alreadi or not.. still the same.. rot there for a while... then went back boiler room again.. hahahaa.. that was the onli most decent room for the day..

ard 3am, i think, we left st james... at the main entrance there, we saw that yellow-dress-girl again! but.. this time 2 things turned us off.. she's with a guy, who seem like her bf.. and... she smokes... so, okay.. enough with her alreadi.. we moved on... supper time!

kc recommended the fei fei wanton mee @ joo chiat there.. not bad.. it's nice.. i like it.. nothing really special to comment.. except the good wanton mee.. oh... lots of LSBs there.. we went into a 7-11 to buy drinks.. saw a humsup guy and a gal walked out... then when we went back to the car and went home.. we passed by a hotel 81.. and saw that guy and gal went in.. wahahahahaha.. as kc said.. the 7-11 there most prob earned most by selling condoms.. and i noticed, when i was inside that 7-11, they have a WIDE VARIETY of condoms as compare to other 7-11s.. no joke..

yup.. that basically ended our day.. mr nzw is a nice guy.. he drove kc home.. fyi, kc lived @ simei wor.. after kc, he sent mi home.. nice guy! in case u didn't who's mr nzw, refer to this post... =D i might want to add another line to that post.. "driver included!" wahahahahahahaha! go see that post if u want to know wat i mean...
